12 INCHES OF SIN IS OPEN TO ALL ARTISTS WORKING IN ALL MEDIUMS. ENTRANTS MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO SUBMIT.
SIZE LIMITATION FOR EXHIBITION:
No dimension on any medium can exceed 12 inches (.3048 meters) in size (and short films must be under 2 minutes in time).
COMPETITION, PROMOTION AND EVENTS:
Artworks submitted to the competition will be eligible for the following:
EXHIBITED WORKS: Invited Artists will be exhibited through 12 Inches of Sin’s and Sin City Gallery for its website and online publications.
MARKETING SUBMITTED WORKS: All artists are welcome to promote works of art submitted through their own marketing channels. 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery will promote all accepted works of art at its discretion for the purposes of promoting the 12 Inches of Sin exhibition. 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery will ask for permission in writing for any promotional opportunities outside of 12 Inches of Sin’s marketing endeavors with respective artwork by artist.
WEB DISPLAY: Artworks will be displayed on the 12ofsin.com and sincitygallery.com websites, as well as corresponding social media platforms.
SALE OF ARTWORK: || UPDATE AS OF 01/2021: 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery will no longer be responsible for art sales on behalf of artists. Should inquiries be made regarding the acquisition of art, 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery will facilitate communications between artists and potential buyers.
ENTRY FEE:
Electronic submission form, examples of artwork and Entry Fee must be received for consideration. Entry Fee is non-refundable.
FORMAT OF ONLINE ENTRIES: All images to be uploaded should be JPG, JPEG, TIFF | 72 dpi. All videos must provide a url link for review. Invited Artists must provide JPG, JPEG, TIFF | 300 dpi for the creation of Art Catalog is required.
SUBMISSIONS, ARTIST AVAILABILITY AND JUDGING:
Each artist must submit 12 works of art for consideration. Artist may be contacted by 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery to inquire about their submitted works. It may be requested to present additional photographs of a particular work of art to verify construction, size and any additional information.
LIMITS OF TASTE:
Art does not imply a lack of decency and respect for others. As different countries have different rules concerning this genre of art, it is the artists’ responsibility to abide by the laws, customs, and societal limits. 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery reserves the right to disqualify any works, which in its opinion, might be offensive to such standards.
ARTIST OWNERSHIP MUST BE FREE AND CLEAR:
Artist represents and warrants that any art submitted to the competition is an original work of art created by the artist, and that artist owns all the rights to such work, free of any claims of others that would prevent or interfere with use of and participation of the work in the competition, or that would conflict with these rule or any use allowed by these rules. Third parties holding rights described above may submit such art provided they have the written permission of the Artist who created such work, that they have the written agreement of the artist to be bound by these rules, and that they have all the other rights described in this paragraph. If a work of art has been created by more than one artist, the written consent of each such co-creator must be provided, and the submitting party must have all of the rights set forth above. Third party submitters or co-artists are included by reference whenever the term “Artist” is used. Any written permission required as set forth in this paragraph must be provided to 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, no later than submission of the art. Artists and third party entrants warrant and represent that any information they have supplied to 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, in connection with the competition is true and correct. Artist is responsible for obtaining all model releases, and producing model releases to 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, on demand.
COMPLIANCE WITH (18 USC 2256 et seq.):
Artist warrants, represents, and certifies that if any art submitted by artist contains sexually explicit conduct as defined in United States’ 18 USC § 2256, then such artist has fully and completely complied with the requirements of United States’ 18 USC § 2257 and 18 USC § 2257A. Artist shall supply copies of all records required by United States 18 USC § 2257 and 18 USC § 2257A to 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery upon request, and Artist certifies that such records are true, accurate, and complete.
LIKENESS OF ARTIST:
The competition is being held to promote the art, the artist, the competition itself and the enjoyment of art by a greater number of admirers, and to that extent artist supports the use of artist’s likeness in any and all aspects of the show and associated events. Artist agrees that artist’s, name, image, likeness, and voice (collectively, “Likeness”) may be used by 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, in the show and associated events, in any and all medium, in any media, tangible or intangible, irrevocably and in perpetuity, throughout the world. 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, may provide material containing artist’s likeness to the news media, or to other third parties for inclusion in materials in any media or in any medium in any place or territory, without limitation. Notwithstanding the above, artist’s likeness can only be used to the same extent as the works pursuant to the Limited Rights.
LIMITED RIGHTS:
Each entering Artist grants 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery the right to reproduce the artwork, to convert the works from one medium to another as required, and to display the art for the gallery exhibition fliers, virtual display and art books/catalogs (collectively, the “competition events”). This grant of rights extends to any and all medium, in any media, tangible or intangible, throughout the world. This grant of rights includes not just the competition events, but also any type of promotional events for the competition, the competition events, the 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery websites, the competition promotions, the arts and/or the Works themselves (collectively, the show and events), including publications, appearances, broadcasts, news articles or interviews, performances, internet placements, internet audio or video, advertising and marketing, and educational materials, to name a few examples. Artist grants 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery the right to sell the Works as reproductions in related art books, art catalogs and film documentaries associated with the 12 Inches of Sin juried art exhibitions. 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, reserves the right to edit, modify, adapt, copyright, publish, use and reproduce entry without further compensation. The license created by this agreement shall be perpetual and irrevocable. Artist retains all copyrights to the art that artist submits. Any additional reproductions outside of marketing and promotional materials and art catalogs will be agreed upon between the artist, and 12 Inches of Sin and it’s curator, Sin City Gallery.
RELEASE OF ARTWORK: By submitting artworks to 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, the Artist, being the legal owner of, or having the right to certain artworks, or series of art works to be used by 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, does grant to 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, and its legal representatives, agents and assigns, the full right to incorporate images of said artworks in 12 Inches of Sin art books, art catalogs, film documentaries, compilations of art from 12 Inches of Sin juried art exhibitions, as well as other promotional materials for 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery. 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, shall solely own the copyright in the aforesaid art work(s), and any advertising or promotional material for such artwork. 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery shall have all rights to use said artwork or images of the aforementioned artwork, in all media now known or hereinafter devised, and in all territories worldwide, in perpetuity. The Artist also consents to the use of the images of said artwork in any printed matter and advertising and marketing materials used to promote 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery. The Artist hereby waives any right that he/she may have to inspect or approve 12 Inches of Sin art catalogs, film documentaries, compilations of art from 12 Inches of Sin juried art exhibitions, or the advertising copy or printed matter that may be used in connection therewith, or the use to which it may be applied. 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, hereby agrees that any proceeds derived from the sale, publication or use of the artworks for 12 Inches of Sin art catalogs, film documentaries, compilations of art from 12 Inches of Sin juried art exhibitions, shall become the property of 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, and used exclusively for the advancement of 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, and its participants. The undersigned hereby releases, discharges, and agrees to hold harmless 12 Inches of Sin and it’s curator, Sin City Gallery, its legal representatives, and assigns, and all persons acting under its permission or authority, or those for whom it is acting, from any liability by virtue of any blurring, distortion, alteration, optical illusion, or use in composite form, whether intentional or otherwise, that may occur in the production of 12 Inches of Sin art catalogs, film documentaries, compilations of art from 12 Inches of Sin juried art exhibitions, or other promotional materials or in any subsequent processing thereof. The Artist hereby warrants that he/she is of full age and has every right to contract in his/her copyright ownership.
PROMOTERS DECISIONS FINAL:
In the event of any dispute arising from, related to, or connected with the competition, the decision of 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, or its designated agent, will be final. Any such decision will be in the sole discretion of 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery.
PHYSICAL ARTWORK:
12 Inches of Sin I – VII, artwork in 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery’s possession from 12 Inches of Sin’s inception through 01/2021 is considered abandoned. 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery has made arrangements to donate abandoned art to the Sin Sity Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (“Sisters”), a 501c3 nonprofit, to support the Sisters Aids Drug Assistance Program (“SADAP”) fundraising efforts. The nonprofit organization supports individuals with HIV/AIDS in the Las Vegas community. Neither 12 Inches of Sin or Sin City Gallery has received any commission or a charitable donation letter for the donated art. Artist may receive a charitable donation letter for their art and/or receive public recognition from the nonprofit organization. || As a reminder of the terms of entry and submission for 12 Inches of Sin I – VII, Artist is responsible for shipping artwork to and from 12 Inches of Sin, and its curator, Sin City Gallery. Any art left with 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, after one year of receipt is deemed abandoned by Artist. Artist releases 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, from any and all claims and demands of any kind regarding damage or injury during delivery to and from 12 Inches of Sin and it’s curator, Sin City Gallery.
PRIVACY POLICY:
Artist contact information (email address, physical address, telephone, social media accounts) is only held for the purpose of contacting selected artists. All artist emails are added to our future events announcement email list.
ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS:
By submitting works to 12 Inches of Sin competition, artists agrees to the rules set forth herein.
