12 Inches of Sin
12 Inches of Sin, an annual juried exhibition of contemporary erotica, presents a serious categories study of practice in the field, and brings to the forefront new and imaginative formats for the exploration of sex, gender, fantasy, and love.
The show has a twist; every piece submitted for consideration must be one foot square or less. This means careful consideration by each artist, the compression of space means that the product requires a certain level of discipline and rigor, and in many cases a close examination of the artist’s aesthetic as he or she makes Lilliputian that which looms large in the imagination. This tininess is also a clever nod to the secretive status of erotica, and functions beautifully as a metaphor for the keyhole voyeur.
12 Inches of Sin exhibition embraces painting, collage, sculpture, drawings and mixed media made by hand. The highest compliment to any artist is a gallery exhibition. In recognition of the outstanding talent, an international group of judges invites Twelve Artists to participate in a group exhibition at the Sin City Gallery, Las Vegas. In addition, the awardee of the honor “Best in Show” is featured in an exclusive solo exhibition at the Sin City Gallery. The Best In Show award winning piece will be featured on the cover of the next book.
Obscura is a novel juried exhibition and catalog devoted to the international accomplishments of artists in the photography field. Submissions that provoke, entice and enthrall can be made via traditional modes (cameras, polaroid, pinhole) and new digital technologies. Short film works are also accepted.
As with 12 Inches of Sin, every piece submitted for consideration must be one foot square or less, the juried exhibition 12 Inches of Sin has come to be known as an important annual report on depth and diversity in contemporary provocative art and a showcasing of cutting edge practices.
